Description
Hook, Left or Right
This handed ophthalmic hook is a compact 10.5cm tool that comes in a left or a right version. The hook end faces one way or the other, so you can reach tissue from the side that suits the case. It is a plain, useful item for many eye trays.
Left versus right hook
The choice depends on which side you approach from and which hand holds the tool. For example, a right version may feel natural when you reach across from one side of the eye, and the left from the other. Many surgeons keep both, because cases do not always follow one pattern. A handed ophthalmic hook in each version means you never have to reach across the field.
Why a 10.5cm length
At 10.5cm, the hook is short and light. That gives fine control close to the eye. However, it offers less reach than a 13cm hook. So it works best for close, precise steps rather than deep or wide retraction.
Main points on this hook
- Length: 10.5cm
- Versions: left or right
- Light, compact feel for fine steps
- Reusable once cleaned and sterilized
Short hook, careful cleaning
Because the hook end is small, tissue can cling inside the bend. So brush it right after use, then rinse and dry. Check the tip under good light too. This hook arrives non-sterile, which means one cycle in your autoclave before first use. Then it returns to the tray as often as you need.
Cover for the left and right hook
Both the left and right hook carry three years against manufacturing defects on the hook body and tip. We work with steel that meets ASTM F899. Browse more fine eye hooks, or consider the Hirschmann hook for a longer 13cm option. Our help FAQs cover orders.
