The hirschmann hook is a slim 13cm hook for fine work at the front of the eye. Its small hooked end lets you catch and guide tissue with precision. We supply it as a single pattern.

Hirschmann patterns in anterior work

The Hirschmann name appears on several fine hooks for anterior segment surgery. These tools help you move or hold delicate tissue. Because the shaft is slim, it passes through small openings without crowding the view. So it suits careful microscope work.

This 13cm hook versus the curved iris version

We also stock a 10cm curved Hirschmann iris hook. That one is shorter, with a curve built in. By contrast, this 13cm hook gives more reach for surgeons who like a longer tool. Pick the one that matches your hand and your usual approach. Some surgeons keep both, then reach for the long straight hook when the incision sits far from where they stand.

Using a slim hook safely

• Keep the hooked end in clear view.
• Move in small steps under magnification.
• Avoid levering against the wound edge.
• Check the tip for bends after each case.

Caring for the Hirschmann

A slim hook bends more easily than a heavy one. So place it gently in the tray and keep it apart from heavy tools. After use, rinse it, brush the hooked end and dry it. The Hirschmann reaches you non-sterile; process it before its first case. Then it stays in service for years.
