The Hajek mallet is a surgical hammer for nasal and ENT bone work. Surgeons use a Hajek mallet to tap osteotomes and chisels through bone with controlled force.

Controlled taps

Nasal osteotomies need light, repeated blows instead of heavy strikes. Therefore, a balanced mallet helps the surgeon or assistant control each tap. As a result, the osteotome moves in small, steady steps.

This mallet measures 23 cm overall and weighs 140 g. The long handle gives good reach across the field. Meanwhile, the lighter weight suits fine nasal work.

Where it fits

Rhinoplasty and septal surgery often involve osteotomes. For example, the surgeon may tap an osteotome along the side of the nose. The mallet then provides the force in small increments.

Light or heavy?

If you want a lighter mallet, then the 140 g option suits you. In contrast, the Cottle mallet weighs 240 g for firmer blows. Some surgeons keep both on the tray, so they can switch between them when the bone changes.

Caring for this mallet

Wipe the head and handle clean after surgery. Next, wash the mallet with a brush and a mild detergent. Then dry it well and sterilize it.
