Description
Goldstein Eye Speculum
The Goldstein eye speculum is a compact 3 cm lid holder. Its small frame suits tight spaces and small lid openings. Because it is so light, it sits on the face with very little bulk near your hands or the microscope.
Small frame, small lid opening
Some lid openings are short or narrow. A large speculum may not seat well there. The 3 cm Goldstein, however, fits into a small space and still holds the lids apart.
Light weight on the face
A heavy frame can tilt or drag on the lids. The Goldstein avoids that because it weighs so little. As a result, it stays in place with less pull, which also helps patient comfort.
Good fits for the Goldstein
Consider it for:
- Small adults or children, as the case allows
- Short procedures in a clinic room
- Cases where a big frame blocks the view
Seating a 3 cm speculum
Seat the upper arm first, then the lower one. Keep the frame toward the outer corner so it stays out of your way. When you finish, release the arms slowly and lift it out one arm at a time.
Goldstein upkeep
Small frames hide debris in tight bends. So brush each bend after use, then rinse and dry. Before storage, also check that both arms close evenly.
