Description
Frazier Dura Dissector
The Frazier dura dissector is a short dissector for separating dura from bone. Its 15 cm length gives the surgeon fine control near the surface of the field.
A short, controlled pattern
Close to a burr hole or bone edge, a short dissector feels more direct. So many surgeons prefer the Frazier pattern for the first steps of an opening. They can sense the plane between bone and dura clearly.
The 15 cm length
We sell the dissector at 15 cm. That makes it one of the shorter dissectors in our range. For tip width or other dimensions, contact us, and we will send the measurement.
Using it in a craniotomy
First, the surgeon drills a burr hole. Next, the Frazier dissector frees the dura around its edge. Then the craniotome can cut from hole to hole without catching the membrane.
Pairing it with longer dissectors
Short and long dissectors complement each other. For example, a 15 cm Frazier handles surface work, while a 25 cm pattern reaches deeper. Many trays therefore carry both lengths.
Caring for your Frazier dissector
Clean off blood and bone dust after each case with a soft brush. Next, rinse and dry the instrument. Finally, sterilize it and store it so the working end stays protected.

Ordering the Frazier dissector
Frazier dissectors carry our three-year warranty for faulty workmanship. Our Atlanta staff hand-inspect it before it leaves the building. See the FAQ page on our site for order answers. In addition, ASTM F899 is our reference for dissector steels. For longer reach, compare the Davis dura dissector at 25 cm. The neurosurgery dissector range shows more.
For professional use. The Frazier care and sterilization notes discuss dissector photos, stock variation and nickel, and our returns and refunds page explains exchanges.
