Fomon Rasp

The Fomon rasp is a nasal rasp named after Samuel Fomon, a key figure in modern rhinoplasty. Surgeons use it to reduce and contour bone on the nasal dorsum.

Five figure numbers

We list five figures: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10. Each figure number names a separate pattern in the Fomon series. Since the catalogue does not describe each figure in detail, contact us and we will send photos of the one you need.

Size notes

The catalogue gives a length of about 20 cm and a 40 x 7 mm blade. Therefore the rasp reaches the full nasal dorsum through standard rhinoplasty access. Other measurements vary by figure, so please ask before ordering.

Rasping in rhinoplasty

Rasps give fine control, because each stroke removes only a little bone. For instance, a surgeon may lower a small hump by rasp alone. Then the same rasp can smooth ridges left after osteotomy.

First, check which figure numbers already sit in your set. Next, order the same figure to replace a worn rasp, or add a new one for variety. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your current rasp and we will help match it.

Caring for your Fomon rasp

Brush the teeth soon after use to lift out bone dust and blood. Also run it through an ultrasonic cleaner if your department has one. Then rinse, dry and sterilize it.
