Fomon Nasal Chisel

The Fomon nasal chisel is a narrow chisel for rhinoplasty and septal surgery. Surgeons use it with a mallet to make small, precise cuts in nasal bone and cartilage.

Narrow blades for detail

We offer four blade sizes: 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm and 7 mm. These narrow widths suit delicate work. So the surgeon can cut exactly where needed without removing extra bone.

Named after Samuel Fomon

Samuel Fomon shaped rhinoplasty teaching in the United States. Several nasal tools still carry his name, including rasps, knives and this chisel. Together they form a familiar set for many surgeons.

Typical steps

For example, a narrow chisel can free a small bony spur on the septum. It can also refine edges after a larger reduction. Then a rasp or file finishes the surface.

Selecting widths

If you only need one, the middle sizes of 5 or 6 mm offer a balance. However, surgeons who do much fine work often keep all four. We can confirm stock and lengths by email.

Caring for your Fomon nasal chisel

Narrow edges dull easily, so clean them by hand with care. Rinse off blood and bone promptly, then dry. Finally, store and sterilize the chisel with its edge protected.
