Description
Fink-Jameson Advancement Forceps
Strabismus surgeons reach for the Fink-Jameson advancement forceps when a muscle needs a firm, even hold. It clamps across the muscle so you can measure, suture and shorten it. The tool comes in one 10 cm length.
A blend of two names
The name joins two figures from strabismus surgery. In practice, the clamp serves the same broad purpose as other advancement forceps. Still, each pattern has its own feel, so many surgeons have a firm favorite. For this reason, try a few before you settle on one.
Step by step on the muscle
Expose the muscle with a hook first. Next, set the clamp across it at the planned point. Then place your sutures in front of the jaws. Finally, remove the clamp once the muscle is secure.
How it compares to the Berens
We also list the Berens clamp at the same 10 cm length. Both do the same task. So the choice often comes down to jaw form and how the handle feels, rather than to function. Also, both suit adult and child cases alike in most hands.
- Single 10 cm length
- Holds a muscle for advancement or resection
- Keeps sutures easy to place
- Ships non-sterile; reusable
Rinse and check after surgery
Rinse the clamp promptly, since dried blood is hard to shift from the jaws. After washing, dry it and close it slowly. Any rough spot or misalignment means it should leave service.
Fink-Jameson clamp, ordering details
Please sterilize this clamp before its first case, because we ship it clean but non-sterile. Fink-Jameson buyers receive three years against manufacturing defects.
