Description
Faure Cervical Biopsy and Specimen Forceps
Faure biopsy forceps collect a cervical sample with one firm closure of the jaws. Their 8.4 mm bite ranks among the larger options in our range.
Why a large bite matters
A bigger bite takes more tissue in one pass. So the lab receives a fuller specimen to section and review. However, a large bite may feel less precise on a very small lesion.
Length and reach
This instrument measures about 20 cm overall. That length reaches the cervix through a vaginal speculum without strain on the wrist. Plus, it stays short enough for steady control in one hand.
Specimen handling
Release the tissue into fixative right after each bite. Then rinse the jaws before a second sample to avoid mixing material. Also, label each container by site if you take several.
When to pick the Faure pattern
Choose this pattern when you want a generous sample in fewer passes across the cervix. Instead, a smaller-bite pattern suits a tiny or hard-to-reach spot. Many clinics stock Faure biopsy forceps alongside a finer punch.
Reprocessing Faure biopsy forceps
Clear tissue from the jaws straight after use, before it dries. Next, run the instrument through an ultrasonic cycle and inspect the cutting edges. Finally, dry it well and give it a tray slot of its own, apart from sharps.
