Description
Farabeuf-Collin Periosteal Raspatories
The Farabeuf-Collin raspatory is a 15 cm stripping instrument with an 11 mm blade. You can order it straight or curved to suit the shape of the bone.
Straight or curved
A straight blade pushes along flat surfaces. Meanwhile, a curved blade follows rounded bones such as ribs. Choose the shape that matches your most common cases.
Compact size
At 15 cm with an 11 mm blade, the raspatory suits small and medium bones. Therefore it is handy for ribs, the clavicle and the hand. It also feels light and precise.
Uses of the Farabeuf-Collin raspatory
Thoracic surgeons use the curved version around ribs. Also, orthopedic surgeons use the straight version on long bones. It helps before plating and grafting.
Technique
Start at an incision in the periosteum. Then slide the blade under the layer and push forward. With the curved version, follow the bone contour as you go.
Which shape first
If you can buy only one, consider your main use. For example, rib work favors the curved blade. In contrast, long-bone plating favors the straight version.
