Description
Falcon Ligature Pliers
Steel ligatures still have a place in many cases. These Falcon ligature pliers give you a 140 mm instrument for that work. You can choose a version with tungsten carbide inserts or one of three plain patterns. So the page covers four tools of the same length.
Why Some Cases Still Use Wire Ties
Elastic modules are quick, but steel ties hold a wire firmly in the slot. For example, many clinicians tie in steel when they want full seating of a wire. In practice, that means fine wire, small twists and a lot of short, exact movements. A plier that feels balanced makes those movements easier.
The Four Falcon Options
- 140 mm, T.C. Inserts: the Falcon plier with tungsten carbide inserts.
- Falcon pattern C, sold as 140mm C.
- Pattern B, listed as 140mm B.
- The 140mm A option, which is Falcon pattern A.
The catalogue lists A, B and C as separate patterns of the same instrument. It does not say how they differ, so please compare the photos before you choose. We sell each one singly.
When Carbide Inserts Make Sense
Tungsten carbide is harder than plain stainless steel. As a result, carbide inserts tend to hold their working surfaces longer under daily use. If your team ties many ligatures each week, the T.C. version is worth a look. Otherwise, a plain pattern may suit a lighter load.
Keeping the Joint Free
Ligature work needs a smooth action. After cleaning, oil the box joint lightly and work it a few times. Then check that the tips still meet. Since the plier leaves our shelf non-sterile, wash and sterilize it before first use and again between patients.
Cover, Standards and Next Steps
The steel conforms to ASTM F899. We order these Falcon ligature pliers to our specification and inspect them on arrival in the United States. Faults in the making are covered, since the term is three years against manufacturing defects. To cut the ties at the end, add our ligature cutters.
