Doyen Vaginal Speculum and Retractor
The Doyen vaginal retractor uses a single blade to hold tissue back in gynecologic surgery. It measures about 23 cm, with a blade 70 mm long and 30 mm wide.
Single-blade design
One blade means one clear job: draw tissue aside and hold it there. So the assistant controls the retraction angle by hand. Also, a single blade leaves more open space than a bivalve design.
Vaginal and abdominal use
In vaginal procedures, surgeons use this pattern to move a vaginal wall aside. Likewise, it holds back tissue at the wound edge in abdominal gynecologic surgery. However, pick the blade size to match the depth you need.
Blade size
The 70×30 mm blade gives moderate depth and a medium width. Then, for longer or wider blades, the slightly concave Doyen line offers more choice. Plus, the overall length of about 23 cm keeps hands out of the view.
Choosing between Doyen models
Pick this Doyen vaginal retractor when a single standard blade covers your work. Alternatively, the slightly concave Doyen speculum offers four blade lengths and up to three widths. So a tray can mix both to suit each case.
Cleaning Doyen vaginal retractor
Rinse the blade face first, as that surface meets the most tissue. Next, wash the whole instrument with a soft brush and a neutral cleaner. Finally, dry it and lay it down so the blade edge stays free of dents.
