Description
Double-Bladed Scalpel Handle
Cutting a soft tissue graft freehand often leaves it thick at one end and thin at the other. A double bladed scalpel handle avoids that by carrying two blades at a fixed distance. On this model the blades sit 1.5 mm apart, so both incisions follow the same path at a uniform spacing.
Why 1.5 mm Between the Blades
The gap between the cutting edges sets the thickness of the strip the clinician lifts. Because the separation is built into the handle, it stays the same from the first stroke to the last. As a result, the harvested tissue comes away with an even profile, which makes it easier to adapt at the recipient site.
Fitting #12 or #15 Blades
The handle accepts either of two common blade shapes. Choose by the kind of incision you plan.
- #15 blades: a small curved belly, preferred for straight sweeps along the palate.
- #12 blades: a hooked profile that reaches behind curves and around distal areas.
Mount both blades of the same number, so the pair cuts in step. Then check that each one seats fully before you start.
Safe Blade Changes
Two exposed edges double the risk during loading and removal. Therefore, use a blade remover or a hemostat rather than fingers when you swap them. Also, keep the loaded handle on a clear spot on the tray, away from gauze and other tools.
Before dispatch, our team in the United States inspects each double bladed scalpel handle for alignment and finish. We cover the twin blade mount for three years against manufacturing defects, handle included. Blades are sold separately, and the handle ships non-sterile, so sterilize it before the first incision.
