Dittel Dilating Bougie

The straight bougie of the three, 22 cm, finishing in an olive tip that finds the lumen without a curve to steer. Its simplicity is the point: nothing to orient, nothing to keep in plane, and a predictable feel as the tip passes a stricture.

Sizing and sets

Charriere 8 to 30 across the main series. Individual sizes are listed for replacement, and the complete set is available as one order, which is how most practices buy them since dilation works upward through consecutive calibers.

Lengths

The pattern is catalogued in four lengths, from 15 cm through to 35 cm. The 22 cm series is the one stocked here. If your set is built on a different length, check before ordering, since a mixed set makes the feel inconsistent from size to size.

Care

Inspect the olive and the shaft under good light before each use. The olive takes the wear, and a flattened or scored olive will catch rather than pass. Clean along the length, dry fully, and store flat so the shaft is not loaded.
