DeBakey Vascular Dilator Malleable

The DeBakey vascular dilator opens up a narrowed vessel or graft end so a repair can proceed. It comes malleable, in 19 cm or 35 cm, with twelve tip sizes.

Twelve diameters

Tips start at 0.5 mm and rise in half-millimeter steps to 5 mm. After that, the range adds 7 mm and 9 mm. As a result, one series covers fine arteries through large grafts.

Short or long

The 19 cm version handles most open vascular fields. However, the 35 cm version reaches further along a vessel. So pick the longer length for deep or remote segments.

Shaping the shaft

You can bend each dilator by hand to match the route ahead. Then it slides along curves with less force. Plus, you can reshape it straight after the case.

Which set to stock

Many vascular trays hold the DeBakey vascular dilator in a run of sizes. First, cover the common small diameters. Next, add 7 and 9 mm if your team handles large grafts.

Cleaning DeBakey vascular dilator

Wipe each dilator with a damp sponge as it comes off the field. Afterward, wash by hand and rinse along the full length. Then dry thoroughly and lay the 35 cm versions flat so they cannot kink.
