Description
Cusco Vaginal Speculum
The Cusco vaginal speculum is a self-retaining duckbill design. A screw holds the two blades open, so both of your hands stay free.
Side screw or center screw
The side-screw version locks the opening from one edge. By contrast, the center-screw version places the lock in the middle. So pick the style your team already knows and trusts.
Blade sizes
Side-screw blades measure 75 x 32, 85 x 35 or 100 x 35 mm. Meanwhile, the center-screw range offers 75 x 32, 85 x 35 or 100 x 37 mm. In each pair, length comes first and width second.
Self-retaining design
Once open, the blades stay put without a hand on the handles. That way, you can take a smear or place an instrument with ease. Also, the duckbill shape gives a clear, direct look at the cervix and upper vagina.
Choosing a length
A 75 mm blade suits shorter exams and smaller patients. Then the 85 mm size covers most routine gynecology work in the clinic. However, deeper anatomy may call for the 100 mm size.
Reprocessing Cusco vaginal speculum
Back the screw out and open the blades wide before cleaning. Next, scrub the inner blade faces and the thread with a soft brush. Finally, dry every surface, including the screw, before sterilization.
