Description
Crawford (Aorta) Retractor
The Crawford aortic retractor holds back the aorta and nearby tissue to expose the area you need. It measures 19 cm and comes with two blade sizes.
Crawford aortic retractor: blade choices
Pick a 15 x 15 mm or 15 x 23 mm blade. Both share the 15 mm dimension, so the second figure makes the difference. So choose the 23 mm blade when you need more retraction surface.
A compact size
At 19 cm, it sits comfortably in the hand during aortic work. Also, the short length keeps the assistant’s hand steady. Meanwhile, the small blades fit into narrow spaces around the vessel.
Where teams use it
Surgeons reach for it in aortic and major vascular procedures. Because the blades stay small, it works well near delicate structures. Then it moves easily as the view needs change.
Ordering both sizes
Many trays carry the Crawford aortic retractor in both blade sizes. That way, the team can switch without leaving the field. In addition, a second one lets two assistants help at once.
Looking after Crawford aortic retractor
Rinse off blood before it dries on the small blade. Next, clean with a soft brush and a neutral detergent. Finally, let it air dry, then return it to a slot meant for small retractors.
