Description
Cooley-Struck Atrium Retractor
The Cooley-Struck atrium retractor holds the atrial wall open during mitral valve and atrial procedures. It measures 24 cm and comes with two blade sizes.
Two blade sizes
Blades measure 45 x 30 mm or 45 x 35 mm. So the choice comes down to that second figure. Meanwhile, both share the same 45 mm dimension.
A light serration
The blade carries a slight serration. As a result, it holds the atrial wall with less slipping. However, the texture remains only slight, not a coarse grip.
Length for the chest
At 24 cm, it reaches the heart through a standard opening. Then an assistant can hold it steadily from the side. Also, the length keeps hands out of the surgeon’s view.
Stocking the tray
Cardiac trays often carry the Cooley-Struck atrium retractor in both blade sizes. First, choose the size your surgeons use most. Next, add the other for patients with a larger or smaller atrium.
Reprocessing Cooley-Struck atrium retractor
Brush along the serrated blade with a soft brush, since residue lodges in the texture. Then rinse and dry thoroughly. Finally, store it so the blade faces do not rub against other steel.
