Description
Coupland Suction Tube With Side Holes
The side hole Coupland tube spreads suction across several ports near the tip. As a result, it is less likely to grab delicate tissue.
Why side holes matter
A single opening can latch onto a membrane. Extra holes share the pull. Consequently, the tip slides more freely across the surface.
Diameters of the side hole Coupland tube
The four tubes run from the finest 1.5 mm to a 3.5 mm bore. Each fits the standard Coupland handle. So you can swap tubes without changing the handle.
Typical settings
ENT teams use it in nasal and sinus cases. It also suits ear cleaning where the drum is near. Besides, many clinics stock both versions.
Practical use
Hold the tip just above the fluid rather than in tissue. Then let the side ports draw it in. Afterwards, rinse the tube if debris builds up.

Clearing the ports
Flush the tube and each side hole after use. Brush the main bore with a fine wire. Then dry with air before sterilising.
