Description
Collin Tongue Depressor
The Collin tongue depressor presses the tongue down so a clinician can see the mouth and throat. Clinicians use it for throat examination and during oral procedures.
A reusable depressor
Wooden blades serve a single use. In contrast, a steel depressor can go through cleaning and sterilization many times. It also stays rigid when you press on a strong tongue.
A 15 cm length
We list the Collin pattern at 15 cm overall. So the blade reaches the rear of the tongue with ease. Meanwhile, the handle stays outside the mouth for a steady grip.
Uses in practice
ENT clinics use tongue depressors when they examine the tonsils and pharynx. For instance, the clinician holds the tongue down while shining a light toward the throat. Dental teams also keep one on hand for oral work.
Building a set
Some practices keep several depressors so one is always ready. Also, a Doyen depressor offers other lengths if you need them. We can help you decide on the right mix.
Caring for your Collin tongue depressor
Rinse the blade after every patient, before saliva dries. Then clean the Collin blade with warm water and a nylon brush. Dry it thoroughly and sterilize it before the next use.
