Description
Clodius Retractor
The Clodius retractor is a small hand retractor for holding skin and soft tissue. Two blade widths, 13 mm and 20 mm, suit small and medium incisions in hand, face and plastic surgery.
Two blade widths
The 13 mm blade fits short incisions and narrow spaces. By contrast, the 20 mm blade holds a broader edge for slightly larger openings.
Why surgeons choose the Clodius retractor
A small blade retracts precisely without crowding the field. Consequently, fine scissors and forceps have room to work beside it.
Typical uses
Hand surgeons use it during tendon and nerve repair. In addition, plastic surgeons use it for small excisions and flap work on the face.
Technique
Hook the blade beneath the wound margin and raise it slightly. After that, hold steady and reposition as the dissection moves along the incision.
Choosing a width
Pick the narrower blade for fingers and eyelids. Meanwhile, the wider blade suits the palm, forearm and cheek.
On a hand tray
Many hand trays carry a pair of small retractors. Therefore, the assistant can open both sides of the incision at once.
Clodius retractor options

Before you buy
Before dispatch, a colleague in Atlanta goes over the retractor one at a time. Both Clodius blade widths carry three years against manufacturing defects. Busy surgical teams keep a spare retractor for busy lists. We also quote multiples before you buy. The FAQ list goes over payment and delivery. Matching pieces wait in our general surgery line. To complete the set, add the Wise retractor. For background on instrument alloys, review ASTM F899.
Only for qualified users. Refund terms are on our returns page. The care and sterilization guide discusses photo differences plus nickel in surgical steel.
