Four lengths to match your reach

We offer 9cm, 13cm, 14cm and 18cm. Shorter holders suit work close to the eye, where every move is small. Longer ones help when you need more reach or a deeper approach. Also, a longer handle can rest better in a larger hand.

Curved or straight jaws

Curved jaws let you see the needle tip as you pass it. Straight jaws, in contrast, give a direct line from hand to needle. Many surgeons keep both, then pick one by the angle of the wound.

Jaw face and lock choices

These two options change how the holder grips and releases.

• Smooth jaws: kind to very fine needles and thread.
• Serrated-solid jaws: more bite for larger needles.
• With lock: holds the needle without steady finger pressure.
• Without lock: a quicker, silent release.

Care for the spring and jaws

Open and close the holder after cleaning to check the spring action. Then look at the jaws under magnification. A worn face lets the needle twist, so replace the holder if that starts. Store it with the jaws shut but not locked.

Matching the holder to the suture

Fine sutures need a gentle hold, so smooth jaws and a short length often go together. Heavier needles, however, call for serrated jaws and more length. Think about the suture you use most, then build from there. That way one holder covers most of your list.
