Description
Stevens Micro Needle Holder
The Stevens micro needle holder is a light, slim pattern for small needles. You can choose a 13 cm or a 15 cm length. Both give fine control when you close conjunctiva, skin of the lid, or other thin tissue.
Light in the Fingers
This holder weighs little and balances near the joint. So fine finger moves turn into fine needle moves. Over a long list, that also means less hand strain.
Short or Long Body
Pick 13 cm for close work under a microscope, where a short tool feels nimble. Then consider 15 cm when you need to rest your hand further back, for example near a high brow.
- 13 cm: quick and compact
- 15 cm: more reach and leverage
- Slim jaws for small needles
- Same pattern in both sizes
Suture Sizes It Suits
In general, micro holders like this suit fine sutures and small curved needles. However, a heavy needle can spring the jaws. For larger needles, therefore, step up to a Kalt-style holder.
Technique at the Microscope
Grip the needle near its middle third. Next, rotate the holder between your fingers so the needle follows its own curve. Because the jaws are slim, you can still see the tip as it exits.
Stevens Care Between Cases
Open the jaws and scrub them soon after the case. Next, rinse and dry the holder, then add a little lubricant at the box joint. Finally, close the jaws on a thin strip of paper; it should hold firmly.
Stevens holders ship non-sterile and go back to work after each round of cleaning and sterilization. We choose stainless steel per ASTM F899, then check each finished holder in the United States. In short, every Stevens holder brings three years against manufacturing defects with it. For a curved or straight fine jaw, compare the Castroviejo-Fine holder. Our eye surgery collection has more choices, and the FAQs page answers ordering points.
