Description
Caspar Laminectomy Rongeur Shaft
The Caspar laminectomy rongeur bites away bone and disc material in spinal surgery. Surgeons use it to open the lamina, clear the disc space and remove fragments during microdiscectomy.
Straight and downward jaws
We offer this rongeur with a straight jaw or a downward-angled jaw. With the straight jaw, bites land directly in front; the downward jaw instead reaches below the line of approach. Therefore, surgeons often keep both on the tray.
Lengths and bites
Choose a shaft of 14 cm, 16 cm or 18.5 cm. For every one of those, the bite options run 2×12, 3×12, 4×14, 5×14 and 6×16 mm. In addition, we list a 15 cm straight shaft with 2×10, 3×10 or 4×10 mm bites.
Place in a spinal set
For example, a lumbar case may start with a larger bite to clear bone. Then a finer bite can remove disc material close to the nerve root. Meanwhile, cervical work usually favors shorter lengths.
How to choose
First, pick the jaw direction that matches the areas you reach most. Next, choose a length for your usual depth. Finally, select one or two bite sizes. With 33 options, you can ask us for help narrowing them down.
Caring for your Caspar laminectomy rongeur
Rinse debris from the jaws immediately after the case. Then brush the jaw cups and shaft joint while they are wet. Dry the instrument completely before sterilization and storage.
