Description
Bunnell Tendon Stripper
The Bunnell tendon stripper harvests tendon grafts for hand and reconstructive surgery. Five figures let you match the instrument to the tendon.
A hand surgery classic
Sterling Bunnell shaped modern hand surgery, and tendon grafting was central to that work. Besides, this stripper follows that tradition. Furthermore, it frees tendon grafts with little trauma.
Five figures
Figures 1 to 5 vary the working end to suit different tendons. Therefore a set lets the surgeon choose the best fit. Ask us if you need help matching figures to tendons.
Who uses the Bunnell tendon stripper
Hand surgeons harvest tendon grafts for flexor and extensor repair. Also, reconstructive surgeons use it for other small grafts. It suits pediatric hand work too.
Technique
Thread the tendon end into the working end. Then advance steadily while keeping tension on the tendon. Remove the graft once it frees completely.
Compact design
At about 15 cm, the stripper suits the forearm and hand. Consequently, it handles the short tendons used in hand surgery. Longer grafts may need a longer stripper.
