Description
Buckley Bone chisel
The Buckley bone chisel is a small, flat blade with a single bevel. It shaves bone level and squares off corners in spaces where larger chisels cannot fit.
One flat face
A chisel has one flat side and one bevelled side. So it lifts a thin layer of bone while the flat face rides along the surface. Furthermore, that makes it the right choice for trimming a ledge flush.
Narrow sizes
You can order 2, 3 or 4 mm. Additionally, the smallest size reaches into a slot or notch. By contrast, the 4 mm blade levels a little more surface per stroke.
Using a Buckley bone chisel
Hand and foot surgeons use it for small corrections and graft beds. Also, oral and facial surgeons value it near teeth and thin bone. Keep the bevel facing the bone you want to remove.
Working with fine chisels
Start each cut at the edge of the area you want to remove. Then advance in short strokes, clearing chips as you go. As a result, the surface stays smooth and the corners stay sharp.
Buckley chisel sizes
- Widths of 2, 3 and 4 mm
- Single bevel with a flat back
- Delivered non-sterile
Keeping the bevel true
Clean the blade promptly so dried bone does not stick to the bevel. Next, dry it and check the corners for chips. Hone a dull edge before it starts to skid on bone.
