Description
Buckley Bone Gouge
The Buckley bone gouge is a fine instrument with a tiny hollow blade. It removes small amounts of bone with great control, so it suits delicate work.
Fine work, small bites
Each pass lifts a thin sliver rather than a large chunk. Therefore the surgeon can shape a surface bit by bit. Light hand pressure is often enough, although a small mallet helps in denser bone.
Three narrow widths
We stock 2, 3 and 4 mm widths. The 2 mm size works in very tight spaces. Meanwhile, the 4 mm size clears a little more bone with each stroke.
Who uses a Buckley bone gouge
Hand, foot and maxillofacial surgeons use it near joints and small fragments. It also helps in dental and facial bone work, where every millimeter counts. Pair it with the matching chisel for flat cuts.
Hand pressure or mallet
In soft or thin bone, hand pressure alone often moves the edge. However, in denser cortex a few light taps help. Either way, small strokes keep the result neat and predictable.
Buckley bone gouge widths
- 2 mm, 3 mm and 4 mm hollow blades
- Fine pattern for small bones
- Supplied non-sterile
Small blade upkeep
Small gouges clog fast, so rinse them during the case if you can. Afterward, brush the hollow and dry it well. Store the three widths together in a small rack.
How we check your gouge
Ahead of packing, one of our Atlanta team checks each gouge under good light. We back this Buckley gouge for three years against manufacturing defects at no added cost. The FDA lists ASTM F899 as the standard for instrument alloys. Many clinics hold one per tray to avoid delays. Companion instruments live in the orthopedic line. For a matching piece, try our Buckley chisel. We will happily help with sizing within a day or so. The FAQ page addresses the ordering steps.
For trained hands only. Consult the delivery policy for lead times. These pictures may not match every option. Note that the steel holds nickel; check our care instructions for more.
