Description

Bone Mill

Harvested cortical bone rarely comes out in a usable size. A dental bone mill reduces those fragments to particulate, so they can be packed into a socket, ridge or sinus defect. The supplier catalogue lists this mill in its stainless steel group. Because it is a manual unit, it needs no power or console, and it works right beside the surgical field.

From Fragments to Particulate

Load the harvested pieces, then work the mill until the bone breaks into small particles. The result is a graft with more surface area, which packs more evenly than chunks. In addition, particulate mixes readily with blood or a substitute material before placement.

Why Milling Chairside Saves Time

Without a mill, staff must chop fragments with rongeurs on a block. That approach is slow, and pieces can scatter off the table. A dedicated mill keeps the bone contained. Therefore, less of the patient’s own material is lost, and the assistant finishes faster.

  • Manual operation, no power source needed
  • Keeps harvested bone contained while it is reduced
  • Produces particulate suited to packing

Cleaning a Mill Thoroughly

Bone debris collects in every recess of a mill. So disassemble whatever comes apart and brush each surface before you autoclave. Afterwards, dry the parts completely and confirm they turn freely before reassembly.

Shipped Non-Sterile, Covered for Years

We inspect each mill in the United States before it leaves us, and it reaches you non-sterile. Run a full wash and steam cycle before milling any graft. If machining or assembly proves faulty, the mill is protected for three years against manufacturing defects on milling surfaces and housing alike.

Stainless parts are made from steel grades listed in ASTM F899. To condense the milled bone into place, add a Graft Packer. Further grafting tools sit under Dental Implant Instruments, and our FAQs explain ordering.

The bone mill is offered strictly for trained professionals in oral surgery. Visit care and sterilization for reprocessing advice and shipping and delivery for delivery windows.
