Description

Bone Curette

This orthopedic bone curette has a sharp, spoon-shaped cup on a long shank. Surgeons use it to scrape bone cavities clean and to lift soft tissue away.

Spoon tip, sharp rim

The cup works like a small scoop. As you draw it back, the rim shaves material off the wall of the cavity. Meanwhile, the hollow collects the debris so you can lift it out.

Four cup sizes

Pick a 3.6, 4.4, 5.2 or 6.0 mm cup. Small cups reach into narrow tracts. By contrast, the 6.0 mm cup clears a larger space with fewer strokes.

Who uses an orthopedic bone curette

Orthopedic surgeons use it for cyst work, infection clearance and graft harvest. Spine surgeons, too, use long curettes to prepare disc spaces. In short, it is a staple on most bone trays.

Pull, do not push

A curette cuts best on the pull stroke, toward the surgeon. So seat the cup at the far wall first. Then draw it back with firm, even pressure while you watch the tip.

Choosing the cup size

Pick a cup a little smaller than the cavity you plan to clear. Then the rim can reach every wall without jamming. If the space opens up, switch to a larger cup to finish faster.

Orthopedic bone curette sizes

  • Cup sizes: 3.6 mm, 4.4 mm, 5.2 mm, 6.0 mm
  • Long shank for deep cavities
  • Sharp-rimmed spoon tip
  • Shipped non-sterile

Keeping cups clean

Flush the cup right after use so tissue cannot dry in it. Next, brush inside the cup and along the shank. Dry it fully, then check the rim for dents.

Choosing this curette

Each buyer gets three years against manufacturing defects covering every curette by default. Every curette gets a careful review at our Atlanta base before shipment. Scan our growing orthopedics catalog for other patterns. We also answer questions for new trays. To complete the set, try the Cobb spinal curette. Smaller departments stock a spare curette to cover reprocessing time. The FDA database lists ASTM F899 as a reference for stainless for instruments. For payment questions, read our help page.

Intended for professional buyers. The care and sterilization guide outlines image variation along with the alloy’s nickel. Delivery options show on the shipping info page.
