Blake Gall Stone Forceps

Description

Blake Gall Stone Forceps

The Blake gall stone forceps are slim stone graspers for the main bile duct. Slim jaws pass easily into the duct, and two shapes cover straight and curved approaches.

Slim jaws

Narrow jaws slip into the duct with little stretching. Consequently, the duct wall stays intact. In addition, that helps healing.

Shapes of the Blake gall stone forceps

You can choose straight or curved. The straight shape suits direct reach. Meanwhile, the curved shape follows bends.

Typical procedures

Common bile duct exploration uses them often. For example, they remove stones close to the opening. They also help at the hepatic duct junction.

Technique

Slide the slim tips down to the stone. After that, open a little and close firmly. Then withdraw gently.

Blake or Mayo-Blake

Both share the 20 cm length. However, the Blake has slimmer jaws for narrow ducts. Moreover, surgeons often keep both patterns.

Blake gall stone forceps in narrow ducts

A narrow duct leaves little room beside the stone. For that reason, slim jaws matter more than length here, because they open inside the duct without stretching it.
