Description
Billeau Ear Loops
The Billeau ear loop is a classic otology instrument with a small wire loop at the end of a long shank. Doctors and nurses use it to lift wax and small objects from the external ear canal.
How a loop works
A curette scrapes, while a loop cradles. The open ring slides behind a plug of cerumen and then draws it outward in one piece. As a result, the clinician can often clear the canal without irrigation.
Three loop sizes
You can choose a small, medium or large loop. Every version measures 16.5 cm overall. The small loop suits narrow or pediatric canals, whereas the large loop moves bulkier wax. The medium size covers most adult cases.
Use in daily practice
Primary care offices, audiology rooms and ENT clinics all reach for this pattern. For instance, an audiologist may clear a canal before taking an impression. Many practices also keep all three sizes on hand so the team never has to improvise.
Building a wax removal kit
Start with an ear speculum that gives you a clear view. Then add loops in two or three sizes, plus a curette for firm wax. Finally, consider a blunt hook for objects that a loop cannot hold.
Caring for your Billeau ear loop
Remove wax from the ring before it dries. Soak the loop in a neutral cleaner and brush it gently, because the wire can bend under heavy pressure. Afterward, let the loop air-dry and seal it in a pouch for the autoclave.

How to order
Each Billeau loop is sold under a three-year warranty covering how the wire and shank were finished. Before dispatch, a person in Atlanta inspects the order by hand. Our frequently asked questions explain payment, tax and tracking. For steel, we point customers to ASTM F899, which describes the stainless grades that surgical instruments use. A good companion is the Buck ear curette for harder cerumen. You can also return to our full ENT catalog.
Intended for professional users. Loops like these ship to licensed professionals; our reprocessing page says why a photo may differ slightly and why stainless alloys hold nickel, and our returns policy sets out exchanges.
