Description
Biggs Fiber Optic Retractor with light Guide Blades
The Biggs fiber optic retractor lights and holds the breast implant pocket. A light guide runs along the blade, so the far end of the pocket is easy to see.
Two blade widths
Blades come in two widths, 30 mm and 50 mm. The narrower one suits smaller incisions. Meanwhile, the 50 mm holds a wider roof in larger pockets.
Why use the Biggs fiber optic retractor
Breast pockets are deep and dark. Therefore, light at the blade tip shows bleeding points and tissue bands clearly. As a result, the surgeon can work more precisely.
Typical procedures
Breast augmentation and revisions use it most. For example, it lights the pocket while the surgeon releases bands with a dissector. It also helps during capsule work.
Connecting the light
The light guide links to a light cable from your source. Then the light travels down the blade. Also, test the light before the case begins.
Handling
Insert the blade along the pocket roof. Next, lift gently and aim the light at the work. Finally, change position as the dissection moves.
