Description
Bernard Elevator
The Bernard elevator has a concave working end that seats on a curved root surface. That makes it useful for fractured roots and small fragments. You can choose from five versions. Each one ships on its own, so you can match the tool to your access.
Why a concave tip helps
A broken root often leaves a rounded surface deep in the socket. A flat tip may slide off it. By contrast, a concave end cups the root and holds its place. So you can apply light, steady pressure and coax the fragment free.
Five ways to reach the root
The Straight version suits the front of the mouth and clear sight lines. Meanwhile, the Left and Right versions help you work from one side. Then there are two bayonet offset forms. These step the working end away from the handle, so your fingers never block your view.
- Straight: direct access
- Left and Right: a handed pair
- Bayonet Offset Left and Bayonet Offset Right: for posterior sites or a blocked view
When to choose a bayonet offset
In the back of the mouth, cheeks and teeth can block your view. A bayonet offset lets you see the tip while you work. Likewise, it helps where a straight shank would press on the lip. If you treat many molars, an offset pair is worth having.
Gentle technique
Fragments break easily, so go slowly. Brace your hand on a solid rest and keep each movement small. Avoid pushing a root tip deeper into the socket. Also, protect the buccal plate when an implant may follow.
Ordering, cover and links
Each Bernard elevator starts from a specification we control and ends with an inspection in the United States. Bernard tips and handles use stainless steel that answers to ASTM F899. It arrives non-sterile, yet a proper wash and sterilizer cycle readies it for repeated use. If production left a fault, we put it right within three years against manufacturing defects. For more fine tools, explore our root elevator line, or pair it with Heidbrink root tip picks. Order tips are on the FAQ page.
