Description
Bending Iron For Large Plates (SOLID)
The solid plate bending iron is a heavy iron for contouring stiff large plates. Two irons work together to bend or twist the plate between them.
Extra leverage
A solid iron resists flexing under load. Therefore it bends thick plates with less effort. Additionally, that suits large fragment and reconstruction plates.
Working in pairs
One iron holds the plate while the other bends it. As a result, the bend forms exactly where intended. Swap positions to shape other areas.
Who uses a solid plate bending iron
Trauma surgeons contour femur and pelvic plates with it. Also, revision cases need it for heavy plates. Scrub staff often help.
Gradual shaping
Bend in small steps and check the fit often. Then avoid bending the same spot repeatedly. Over-working weakens the plate.
Choosing light or solid
Lighter irons handle routine plates. By contrast, the solid iron handles the stiffest ones. Consequently, many sets carry both.

Before you check out
The standing warranty for every bending iron runs three years against manufacturing defects by default. Before we pack it, our Atlanta crew goes over every bending iron piece by piece. To read about instrument alloys, check ASTM F899. Busy surgical teams order an extra bending iron in case one is out for service. For quick answers, consult the FAQ page. We also suggest an option for your team. Further tools sit in the orthopedic line. For a matching piece, add our lightweight bending iron.
