Description
Aufricht Nasal Retractor
The Aufricht nasal retractor lifts the skin of the nasal dorsum during rhinoplasty. Surgeons use it to see the bony and cartilage framework of the nose.
Lifting the nasal skin
After the surgeon elevates the skin, the retractor holds it up. As a result, the dorsum comes into view. That helps during rasping and hump work, when the surgeon must see the bone.
The plain, blunt version
Here we sell the plain model, which has no light. It measures 13 cm and has a blunt blade. So it lifts tissue without cutting it. A blunt edge also lowers the risk of tearing thin nasal skin.
In rhinoplasty
Surgeons often combine this retractor with rasps, osteotomes and elevators. For instance, the retractor lifts the skin while a rasp smooths the bone. Meanwhile, the assistant keeps the view steady.
Plain or lighted
We also sell a fiber optic version with a light guide. However, the plain version suits teams that rely on a headlight. You can order both if you want the choice on the day.
Caring for your Aufricht nasal retractor
Rinse the retractor right after surgery. Next, clean the underside of the blade, where tissue tends to collect. After it dries, sterilize it with the rest of the rhinoplasty set.
