Description
Aspirating Curette
The aspirating curette is a hollow 28 cm uterine instrument that works with suction. It evacuates the uterine cavity and connects through a separate valve.
Five diameters
Sizes run 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 mm across the range. So you can match the diameter to the uterine size and the cervical opening. Also, wider sizes move more material with each pass of the tip.
Suction and valve
Connect the curette to your suction source through its matching valve. That valve comes as a separate item, so order one with your first purchase. Then the pair stays ready for use on the next list.
28 cm length
Every diameter shares the same 28 cm length. As a result, your hand position stays the same when you change sizes mid-case. Plus, the reach suits work through a dilated cervix.
Evacuation or sampling
Choose this aspirating curette when the task is to empty the uterine cavity. By contrast, a smaller specimen curette suits a biopsy sample. Meanwhile, keeping both types lets the team pick the right bore for each patient.
Cleaning aspirating curette
Flush the bore with water right after use so nothing dries inside. Next, pass a long brush through the whole shaft and rinse once more. Finally, dry the tube inside and out before you put it away in a clean drawer.
