Zollner Suction Tube

The Zollner suction tube is a very fine suction for ear microsurgery. Surgeons use it to remove small amounts of blood and fluid near delicate middle ear structures.

A tool for tight spaces

The middle ear holds the smallest bones in the body. So the suction tip must be slim enough to work beside them. A fine bore also draws gently, which helps protect nearby tissue.

Three diameters

You can choose 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm or 1 mm. The 0.5 mm size suits the most delicate areas. The 1 mm size, however, clears fluid faster. The 0.7 mm size then covers the middle ground.

Where surgeons use it

This suction appears on tympanoplasty and stapes trays. Surgeons also reach for it when they place grafts or prostheses, since a dry field helps accuracy. Many keep all three sizes ready.

Choosing a diameter

Caring for your Zollner suction tube

Fine bores block easily, so flush the tube immediately after use. Then pass a matching cleaning wire through it. Dry the lumen and sterilize the tube once it is clean.
