Zollner Ear Knife

The Zollner ear knife is a small angled blade built on a slim shaft. Otologists use it to make fine incisions deep in the canal and in the tympanic cavity.

A micro knife for otology

Ear surgery calls for tiny, controlled cuts. So the blade stays small and the angle carries it around the canal wall. The surgeon can then cut while still seeing the tip.

Eight options

First, pick a 90 or 45 degree angle. Then choose the direction: upward, downward, right or left. Together, these give eight versions. Contact us if you need blade dimensions.

Clinical role

With it, surgeons incise the meatal skin or free fibrous bands near the ossicles. Because each direction reaches a different wall, many trays hold several versions. The knife also pairs well with fine needles and picks.

Which versions to order

Think about the walls you cut most often. Then order the matching directions in your preferred angle, so every wall has a blade that reaches it. If you are unsure, a 45 degree knife in two opposite directions makes a good start.

Caring for your Zollner ear knife

Treat the edge gently while you clean it. Use a soft brush, never an abrasive pad, because scratches dull the tip. Then dry the knife and rack it so the blade touches nothing during sterilization.
