Description
Yasargil Scoop
The Yasargil scoop is a small microsurgical spoon for removing soft tumor and tissue. Surgeons use it to lift material out of deep cavities where forceps would struggle.
How the scoop works
Soft tumor tissue often breaks apart when grasped. So a scoop lets the surgeon gather it into the cup and lift it out. It also helps remove small fragments at the end of a resection.
Size
We list the scoop at 18 cm. That length reaches deep fields under the microscope. We do not publish the cup size, so please ask us for that figure.
Where it fits
During tumor surgery, the scoop works alongside suction, coagulation and tumor forceps. For instance, the surgeon may loosen tissue with suction and then scoop it out. Many trays keep one scoop within reach.
Choosing a scoop
If you already use Yasargil instruments, the scoop matches their length and feel. However, if you need a different cup size, let us know. We can check what else we carry.
Caring for your Yasargil scoop
Empty and rinse the cup right after the case. Then brush inside it with a small soft brush. Dry the scoop completely, because water can pool in the cup, and then sterilize it.
