Description
Wittner Cervical Biopsy and Specimen Forceps Shaft
Wittner biopsy forceps take cervical tissue samples on a 23 cm shaft. You can choose a straight or a curved version.
Straight or curved
The straight version aims directly along the line of the speculum. By contrast, the curved version reaches around to a lesion off to one side. So some clinicians keep both on the tray.
23 cm shaft
The shaft length suits a standard adult examination. Also, it keeps the hand below the line of sight. Then the view through the colposcope stays clear.
For cervical sampling
Clinicians use Wittner biopsy forceps when colposcopy points to an area that needs histology. Therefore, the jaws take a sample for the lab. Next, the tissue goes into fixative right away.
Ordering
State straight or curved on each line of your order. In addition, consider a pair of each for flexibility. That way, the clinician can match the angle to each patient.
Reprocessing Wittner biopsy forceps
Rinse off blood and mucus right after the procedure. Then brush the jaws, paying attention to the inside of any curve. Finally, dry the Wittner biopsy forceps and store them so the tips do not touch.
