Wieder Fiber Optic Tongue Depressor

Description

The Wieder fiber optic tongue depressor holds the tongue clear during tonsillectomy, palate and oropharyngeal procedures while lighting the field from the blade itself. The curved blade follows the dorsum of the tongue, and the fiber bundle runs the length of the shank so the lit area stays where the surgeon is working rather than falling short at the lips.

Two blade sizes cover the range of adult anatomy. A suction version draws blood and smoke away at the blade, which keeps the view clear without a second instrument competing for room in the mouth.
