Description
Vicker Elevator
The Vicker elevator is an 18 cm periosteal elevator for raising tissue from bone. Its moderate length suits both small and medium exposures.
Balanced and precise
At 18 cm, the elevator sits comfortably in the hand. So the surgeon can make small, precise movements at the tip. That control matters near nerves and tendons.
What it does
The tip slides between periosteum and bone. Then gentle pressure lifts the layer away. As a result, bone becomes visible and ready for the next step.
Who uses the Vicker elevator
Hand, foot and facial surgeons rely on it most. However, general orthopedic trays also carry it for smaller exposures. It pairs well with a larger raspatory.
Practical tips
Keep the tip angled toward bone rather than soft tissue. Then work in short strokes. If tissue resists, release it with a scalpel before lifting again.
Building a fine set
Fine elevators work best in pairs, one narrow and one slightly wider. Consequently, many surgeons pair the Vicker with a second fine elevator. Then each task gets the right tip.

How we check your elevator
The Vicker pattern holds cover of three years against manufacturing defects in all cases. Ahead of dispatch, an inspector in Atlanta handles this elevator in person. Our order FAQ covers shipping and refunds. Many hospitals order two of these so a case never waits. For a next step, explore the Alderdyce elevator. We are glad to prepare a quote by email.
