Description
Tohoku Towel Forceps
The Tohoku towel forceps are light clips with fine points for holding drapes. Two compact lengths make them a good fit for small and medium fields, where a heavy forceps would weigh the drape down.
Fine points
The slim points slip through paper and light cloth drapes without tearing them. As a result, the drape window keeps its shape throughout the procedure.

The 10 cm size suits hand, face and minor procedures. Meanwhile, the 13 cm size handles slightly heavier drapes on the trunk and limbs.
Light on the drape
Every gram on a drape edge pulls it toward the floor. For that reason, light clips like these help the field stay neat, particularly on small tables.
Clipping cables
Besides drape corners, the clips hold suction tubing and diathermy leads in place. That way, cables cannot slide off the table mid-case.
Fitting technique
Pinch a small fold of drape and close the clip across it. Before moving on, check that both points pass through every layer.
How many per pack
Minor packs usually need four, while medium fields need six. Many teams also keep two spares for cables.
Tohoku towel forceps options
- 10 cm or 13 cm
- Fine, sharp points
- Light ratchet closure
Tohoku care
Wash the fine points gently, since they bend if knocked. Dry the clips and sterilise them in a small tray.
When you order
Before the box closes, an inspector in Atlanta examines each forceps by hand. Both Tohoku lengths leave Atlanta with three years against manufacturing defects. Extra items wait in our general instrument list. For quick answers, open the help page. Some teams add our Lorna towel forceps. For background on surgical alloys, see ASTM F899. A backup forceps in stores keeps lists moving.
