Description
Tendon Seizing Instrument
This tendon seizing instrument grasps tendons for repair, transfer and grafting. Four versions give a choice of length and shape.
Four versions
Choose 13 cm, 15 cm straight, 15 cm curved or 20.5 cm. Also, the short version suits finger work. Meanwhile, the 20.5 cm version reaches through the forearm.
Straight or curved
At 15 cm, the curved option reaches around corners in the palm. By contrast, the straight option works directly ahead. Additionally, both grip tendon ends firmly.
Who uses a tendon seizing instrument
Hand surgeons use it during tendon repair and transfer. Also, orthopedic and foot surgeons use it for other tendons. Reconstructive teams find it versatile.
Grasping technique
Close the jaws on the tendon end, not the middle. Then pull steadily in the direction of the tunnel. Release once the tendon reaches its target.
A general set
Many surgeons keep two lengths of this instrument. Consequently, they can reach both short and long tunnels. Furthermore, the curved version adds flexibility.
