The Sypert bone rongeur is a long rongeur forceps, so it removes bone in deep surgical fields. At 35 cm, it reaches areas that shorter rongeurs cannot reach comfortably.

A long reach

Most bone rongeurs run well under 30 cm, however. By contrast, the Sypert pattern extends to 35 cm, so the surgeon can bite bone at depth while the hand stays clear. That reach suits deep approaches in spinal and skull base work.

Three bite sizes

We offer a 3, 5 or 8 mm bite. The 3 mm bite gives the most control when you work near delicate structures. In contrast, the 8 mm bite takes bone quickly, while 5 mm sits between them.

Use the Sypert bone rongeur especially when depth is the main challenge. For example, it can follow a shorter rongeur once the opening deepens. Many teams pair it with Kerrison punches for fine edge work.

Caring for your Sypert rongeur

Rinse bone out of the Sypert jaws promptly, since long instruments trap debris along their length. Next, brush the jaws, joints and shaft carefully. Rinse and dry fully, then sterilize with the jaws slightly apart.
