The Snitman retractor is a small self-retaining endaural retractor. Surgeons place it in an incision at the entrance of the ear canal to hold the tissue open.

Designed for the endaural approach

An endaural incision starts in or near the ear canal rather than behind the ear. So the retractor must be compact enough to sit in that small space. This pattern measures about 10 cm.

3×3 teeth

Each arm carries three teeth. As a result, the grip spreads across the edge of a short wound. That helps the incision stay open without constant adjustment.

Prong options

We offer Sharp and Blunt prongs. Sharp prongs fix firmly into tissue. Blunt prongs, instead, press gently and may suit thin skin in the canal.

Choosing for your technique

If you often use the endaural route, this small pattern is worth having. However, surgeons who mainly work behind the ear may prefer a larger retractor. Many teams keep both kinds.

Clean the small teeth carefully, since they can trap tissue. Rinse the instrument open under running water and brush gently. Then dry it fully and sterilize it according to your protocol.
