Description

Screw Drivers

This orthopedic screwdriver inserts and removes bone screws by hand. Three tip sizes match common small and medium screws.

Three tip sizes

Choose a 1.5, 2.5 or 3.5 mm tip. The 1.5 mm tip suits small screws in the hand and face. Meanwhile, the larger tips suit small and medium fragment screws.

Hand control with an orthopedic screwdriver

Hand screwdrivers give the surgeon a feel for screw tightness. Therefore over-tightening becomes less likely. Also, that feedback matters in soft bone.

Who uses an orthopedic screwdriver

Trauma surgeons use it during plate and screw fixation. Also, hand and foot surgeons use the small tips. It helps in hardware removal too.

Matching the screw

The tip must fit the screw head recess snugly. Consequently, a worn or mismatched tip can strip the head. Check fit before each use.

Final tightening

Tighten until the screw head seats, then stop. A further quarter turn can strip the thread in soft bone. Use two-finger tightness as a guide.

A small set, three sizes

Many hand and trauma trays only need these three tip sizes for routine work. Moreover, keeping them together avoids hunting for the right driver mid-case. Consequently, screw insertion flows more smoothly.

Why we back the screwdriver

Any screwdriver receives a close look at our Atlanta office before it leaves. Should the screwdriver develop a factory fault, you have three years against manufacturing defects. We gladly suggest an option for larger orders. Extra tools are in our orthopedic collection. A backup screwdriver on standby saves a cancelled case. To complete the set, consider our T-handle hex screwdriver. The FAQ list handles common order questions. Surgical stainless steel falls under a standard, namely ASTM F899.
