Description
Ruskin Bone Rongeur Forceps
The Ruskin bone rongeur is a strong, compound-action instrument for heavy bone removal. It comes at 18 or 23 cm with straight or curved jaws.
Compound action
The joint design multiplies hand force at the jaws. Therefore dense bone yields with less effort. In addition, the spring reopens the jaws after each bite.
Size and jaw choices
Two lengths are available, 18 cm and 23 cm. For each, you may pick a straight or a curved head. The shorter one suits medium bones, while the longer adds reach and leverage.
Who uses the Ruskin bone rongeur
Orthopedic surgeons trim large bone edges and osteophytes. Also, spine and thoracic surgeons use it. Amputation teams rely on it to round off bone ends.
Choosing a version
Straight jaws suit open, direct access. However, curved jaws reach around corners. Moreover, many trays hold one of each length and shape.
Strength without bulk
Compared with long heavy rongeurs, the Ruskin keeps a moderate size. Even so, its action delivers serious force. Consequently, it fits trays where space is tight.

The promise on the rongeur
Before shipment, a colleague in Atlanta studies the Ruskin pattern by eye. Practices receive three years against manufacturing defects with the Ruskin pattern in all cases. More patterns sit in the orthopedic catalog. Want help choosing a rongeur? Send us a note by email. For a companion tool, check the Ruskin-Liston cutter.
