Description
Robin-Masse Retractor
The Robin-Masse retractor is a self-retaining abdominal retractor. It comes in one size for general open abdominal work.
Self-retaining design
Once set, it holds the wound open without an assistant. So the surgeon keeps both hands free for dissection, suturing and suction. Also, a steady hold helps when the team is small or the case runs long.
Abdominal use
Surgeons use it to keep a midline or transverse abdominal incision open during open procedures. Then they can work inside the cavity without a hand-held blade in the way. However, deep organs may still need a hand-held blade or a malleable ribbon alongside it.
One size
This pattern comes in a single size. Because our listing gives few dimensions, ask us if you need exact measurements. We will reply before you commit to an order.
Pairing
Many teams pair the Robin-Masse retractor with a malleable blade for deeper areas. That way, the self-retaining piece holds the abdominal wall while the bent blade shapes around organs. Plus, both tools fit in a general abdominal tray. Also, we can send measurements by email before you order.
Cleaning Robin-Masse retractor
Open it fully before cleaning so every surface and edge is easy to reach. Next, scrub the moving parts and blade edges under running water. Then dry it and check that it still opens and holds smoothly.
