Description
Recamier Uterine Curette
The Recamier uterine curette carries an open loop on a 31 cm instrument for endometrial curettage. You choose the width, the shank and the edge to suit each case.
Widths from 5 to 40 mm
Eighteen widths run from 5 mm up to 40 mm. Also, figure numbers 00 to 16 match those widths, from the smallest loop to the largest. So you can order by figure number or by millimeter, whichever your team uses.
Rigid or malleable shank
A rigid shank gives direct, firm control from handle to loop. By contrast, the malleable shank bends to follow the uterine axis. Then you can shape it by hand before each use to match the anatomy.
Sharp or sharp/blunt edge
The sharp version scrapes the lining with a cutting edge. Alternatively, the sharp/blunt version combines a sharp edge with a blunt one on the same loop. That way, a single curette offers two levels of bite without a swap.
Choosing sizes
Most trays keep a small, medium and large Recamier uterine curette together. However, the full width range lets you match unusual cases too. Plus, the 31 cm length gives generous reach through the dilated cervix.
Cleaning Recamier uterine curette
Flush the open loop with water right after the procedure, before anything dries. Then scrub the edge gently, working away from the sharp side. Also, store malleable versions flat so the shank keeps whatever shape you last gave it.
